Today’s unfortunate post is curtesy of a set of rain slick steps combined with my clumsiness. A little over one week ago I slipped on a set of 3 steps, fell backwards & did this to my left elbow (thankfully not my dominant arm). As today’s not so fun, fun fact, I broke my elbow on the last day of my vacation while I was getting ready to drive back home. Yes, friends, I drove 10 hours home by myself with a hurt back (which bothered me much more than the elbow) & broken elbow. In my defense, I’d convinced myself I hadn’t broken anything. I was quite the sight. I probably worried the people who saw me at the rest stops & gas stations. I’m surprised no one passed me a note asking if I was okay.
The unfortunate part of all this (beyond this horribly annoying splint on my arm) is that I won’t be able to type properly for 3-4 months at least (per the ortho docs). I am currently typing one handed which takes forever. Charting at work horribly frustrating. We are currently working on looking into dictation software which will hopefully help.
Speaking of work, obviously I’m limited in what I can do there as well. It is suspected that it will be 3-4 months (at least) before I can do surgery again. It’s amazing how fracturing just a tiny piece of bone impacts your life. Apparently, the triceps tendon attaches to the olecranon (that tiny, pointy piece of your elbow that I fractured). I’m scheduled for surgery this Tuesday to reattach the tendon.
Thankfully my back is feeling better. Certainly not 100% but much more tolerable. My elbow really doesn’t hurt that bad either (we’ll see if that is still true post surgery). Honestly the splint is way more bothersome. My fingers are constantly swollen & look like little Vienna sausages. Hopefully none of my canine patients confuse them for food.
All of this is to say that it might be quite a while before the next necromancer book comes out. I’d just finished the pixie book of short stories before this happened & it is currently in editing land, so at least there is that.
Sorry for the bummer of a post. On the bright side, my new shed is in & painted (I’ll put a picture below) & the new fence is supposed to go in this week. Hope all of you are well & staying out of the doctor/emergency room. As always, thank you for reading 🙂

Wow! That sucks! Sorry to hear this sad news. One tiny misstep is all it takes to turn your world upside down. We’ll still be here when you get better. Hoping for a speedy recovery, Sharon Lacey
