Someone’s Watching Me

Good early afternoon. Today’s picture is complements of my cat, Newton. When I took this photo, Newton had been staring at me like this for at least twenty minutes. If you look closely, you can see Fennik in the background, laying on the tile fast asleep. Newton is giving me a none too subtle hint that it is time to put Fen to bed so Newton can get his canned food. Quick bit of life advice: never try and stare down a cat unless you enjoy losing.

I’m happy to let everyone know that the first necromancer book, “Deadly Lineage” is now available for pre-order on Audible. I’ve listened to the audio on this one and enjoyed the voice actors. It’s always strange, hearing another give voice to characters that you’ve been hearing in your head. Podium is currently working on the second necromancer audio book as well.

In current writing news, I just sent the third necromancer book, “Deadly Avarice” to Laura for proofreading. The book cover is in the works as well. I hope to have it available by the end of April or by the middle of May at the latest. There will be at least one more necromancer book. Depending on how it goes, there could be a fifth, but I’m uncertain. I am taking a small break from writing book four to finally work on a book of short stories for the pixie series.

Over the last couple of years, I’ve had more than a few readers express interest in some of the side characters from the pixie books. I’ve been interested in writing their stories as well. I’ve just finished Nirgal’s story and am currently working on writing how Vander and Georgiana met. I have one other short story I plan to write for certain and that involves Hamish McIntyre and his special someone. I’m toying with the idea of “a day in the life of” for Trinket and possibly something involving our favorite faun, Johnny. Full disclosure, I’ve never written a group of short stories before so I’m struggling a bit. My mind tends to work on longer tales so this has been a bit tough.

Assuming I can mentally muscle through them, I hope to have the book of short stories out by late summer or early fall. At the moment, I believe the title will be, “Perfectly Petite Shorts” but that is subject to change.

That’s it for the writing updates. The weather where I live is on the struggle bus. A couple of weeks ago was amazingly lovely and I was able to get out into the yard and begin winter clean-up. Now . . . not so much. This is that wonderful time of year where the temps ping-pong back and forth and you never know what you’re going to get.

It’s also the time of year I was born and I just celebrated a big birthday milestone (no, I’m not saying which one). I think I’ve eaten my weight in cookies, pizza, and cake the past week. I’m feeling uncomfortably round and will need to work on that in the future. I will say that I’m at the age where removing the pounds isn’t nearly as simple as it once was. Sigh . . . As I’ve said many times, I’d like my body back from when I was younger, but not my brain.

I think that’s all for today. Unfortunately the weather outside is looking fairly grim. Gloomy and rainy but at least the precipitation that’s falling from the sky isn’t frozen. I’ll post again when “Deadly Avarice” is available.

As always, thank you so much for reading and supporting this writing endeavor of mine. You are all much appreciated! In these questionable times, I hope my stories give your brain a reprieve from reality. We’ve all got to come back to reality in the end, but I’m a firm believer that the mind needs to rest and rejuvenate. For me, that form of rejuvenation is found between the pages of a book.
